Convent of Porta Coeli

The convent of Porta Coeli is a Catholic temple located in the centre of  Valladolid since the XII century. 
It is in Teresa Gill street, near to Main Square.

It was founded by Doña Mariana de Paz in the 19th of Dicembre of 1601.

Don Rodrigo Calderón was the person who lived in the convent in the past. He was the private secretary of Duque de Lerma. He bought this palace in 12 of January of 1605.

He was sentenced to die because he killed to Francisco de Juaras. He died in the Main Square of Madrid.


The mummy of Don Rodrigo Calderón is hidden in this convent,but you can´t visit it.

Saint Salvador Church

 Saint Salvador Church is in Spain, in the province of Valladolid.
The church was founded in the twelfth century. It was built in a Gothic, Baroque, Reanaissance style.
This church is very important in Valladolid because San Pedro Regalado was baptised in this church in 1390 and he is our Saint Patron. Before that,  this church was  other church called Santa Elena Hermitage, placed in the Salvador Square and that was surrounded by a cementery and in the thirteenth century the archeological excavations didn't find rests of the old temple, but they found a lot of tombs.

THE ROYAL MONASTERY OF SAINT JOAQUIN AND SAINT ANA

                

The Royal Monastery of Saint Joaquin and Saint Ana is on Saint Ana square,4.
It is a build of Francisco Sabatini . It has  neoclassical style. Is a very important build, because it has three paintings of San Francisco the Goya.The only three paintings of San Francisco the Goya in Castilla y León.

OLD BULLRING SQUARE

THE OLD BULLRING SQUARE IS IN PLAZA DEL VIEJO COSO. IT WAS BUILT IN 1833 , IN SAN QUIRCE. IT WAS A BULLRING SQUARE, THEN IT BECAME PRIVATE APARTAMENTS. IT WAS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST BULLRING SQUARE IN VALLADOLID. IT SHAPE IS LIKE AN OCTOGON. IT WAS ABANDONADED IN 1890 BECAUSE THE BULLRING IN PASEO ZORRILLA WAS BUILT. NOW IT´S A SMALL PARK AND THERE ARE FLATS ALSO.

THE MAIN BRIDGE




This is the Main Bridge, it was built in 1080. the Countess Doña Eylo ordered to build it.Mahomed built it, he was a servant of the Count. This is the story of the Bridge:

A servant of the Count was in love with a servant of the Countess named Zaida. When the Count went on a trip, the servant called Mahomed built it.
The Count didn't like the relationship,between Mahomed and Zaida,and Mahomed decided to build the bridge,and so the Count could accept the relationship. Mahomed built a bridge very narrow.
The Count didn't like the bridge and ordered a builder to make it bigger.
The Count was very happy to see the work of the new builder and let the builder  marry with Zaida.

The Royal College of Saint Alban

The Royal College of Saint Alban

It is inValladolid,in "Don Sancho" street. It was founded by Robert Persons in 1590 in the reign of Felipe II. It was founded to form English priests in the Catholic church and to fight against the anglicanism and Protestanism.  The building was built in Baroque style.
You could go to the church to see the virgin called "Nuestra señora de la Vulnerata" And now it is used for Residence and  training centre for priests.
